Given that Cartier invented the Mysterieuse idea over a century ago, it seems almost bizarre that the highlight of day one at the SIHH should be Cartier's first wristwatch execution of the idea (and all the more so since Quinting have been making mystery watches for over a decade). It has, however, been worth the wait, as these two watches show.
Apart from looking every inch the
part, both are horological marvels in their own right, though
naturally it will be the tourbillon that catches most of the
attention on the front, one of the key difficulties being in
finding sufficient energy to propel the crystal discs on which the
hands are fixed.
Cartier Fine Watchmaking division have done themselves proud both in technical and design terms - QP will be looking more closely at this pair in the coming months.
