The Ulysse Nardin Carnival of Venice Minute Repeater

Monday 04 February 2013

Hot on the heels of QP58’s Sound Investments story on the technical merits of minute repeaters, Ulysse Nardin has unveiled one of its Baselworld novelties – the Carnival of Venice Minute Repeater. A limited edition of 18 pieces, the watch showcases a speciality of Ulysse in the form of the Jaquemart, a dial-side animated figure that moves with the chimes when the strike is initiated.

On this 42mm platinum model (also available in rose gold on request), the background scene on the dial is created through champlevé enamel, while the animation features two masked figures in the shadow of the Grand Canal’s Rialto Bridge who lift their masks in time to the chimes of the minute repeater mechanism.

Powering the piece is the manual winding Calibre UN-71 with 48–hour power reserve.
